Been a While

Yeah, I know, I know, it’s been a while since I last posted anything.

So, I guess I should tell you what I’ve been up to, eh?

Let’s see now…my last post was about my job at the hospital because I couldn’t think of anything else to talk about…that was on the first, so it’s been a little over three weeks.

Well, I’ve been getting into the crafts portion of “arts & crafts” lately. I sewed myself a nifty sweat band-bracelet, for one. I made it out of a sock and sewed a hem into the end where I cut the sock in half. It doesn’t look that bad, but I ran out of red thread halfway through it and had to use a dark orange for the rest and hope nobody noticed.

The next project I started was a set of papier mache horns for a costume. They’re supposed to be like goat horns, where they start at the top of my forehead and wrap around under my ears. So far, I have just the wire frame. It’s not perfect, but after the amount of work I put into the wire frame, I didn’t want to make it again to work out the kinks. So that’s unfinished.

The next piece is also part of that costume I mentioned. It’s going to be a wolf mask similar to THIS AWESOME PIECE OF AWESOME. I couldn’t find any templates or blueprints to make anything similar, so I just looked at the different angles the guy posted and tried to craft my own template from those. I’m actually quite proud of myself, because it took only three tries to get it almost perfect. The only problem now it that I made it small scale, so now I need to figure out the right proportions to get it up to full size. That shouldn’t be too hard. All I theoretically need to do is just draw a graph on the current mask shape (or at least, the one I get right), and draw a graph with larger spaces on another sheet of paper. Then I’ll have to test that by cutting it out, taping all the right parts together and hoping for the best. Once that’s done, I’ll move on to other material that is not paper, because paper masks don’t last at all.

Inconspicuously changing the subject

So Kendall and I went up to Epcot for his birthday. Both of us walked out a bit infuriated that night, because they took out all of the educational stuff. Does anyone remember the Mexico ride? Remember how it was filled with educational stuff about Mexico? All of that has been removed and replaced with stupid little cartoons about Donald Duck being part of a flamenco band and he’s late for a rehearsal because he’s running around Mexico looking up ladies’ skirts and scuba diving. Then, suddenly, the Day of the Dead celebration done with wooden puppets! Yeah, that was the only thing they left in there, and there were still the cartoon screens doing that terrible thing with Donald.

On another subject

My costochondritis has come back again. It’s not as bad as the first time it happened, which felt like a javelin stuck in my chest for a week, then slowly disintegrating over the course of the next month, but it still sucks. What also sucks is that the last time, I had a hot pack and a lot of ibuprofen for the inflammation. This time, I have two ibuprofen left and no hot pack at all. I know a lot of people were saying that swimming had helped them quite a bit with their costochondritis, and we do have a pool here, so I guess I can go ahead and try that. The only thing that really worries me about that is the other group of people that said swimming did not help them said that it made things exponentially worse.

As for exercises, there are two that I know of, and one is lying back on an exercise ball (of which I do not have) and just kind of sprawling with your arms at a 40 degree angle to your head. The other one, you put your arms on a doorway and lean forward, which stretches the rib joints where they are inflamed.

Soooo, yeah.

Things suck and arts & crafts. Whoopee!
